Abstract:The Shiwu gold deposit is located in the north part of the NE Jiangxi ophiolite belt; the volcanic rocks in the deposit mainly consist of basalt, which is the basic end-member of the NE Jiangxi ophiolite belt. After analysis of the major and trace element of the basalts, they have high Na and Al, low K and Ti geochemical features，the trace elements are deleption in HFSE，and the patterns of REE are slightly deviated to the righ. The geochemical charateristics of the basalts are similar to the island arc basalt series and the mafic rocks of the NE Jiangxi ophiolite，which indicate the basalts in Shiwu gold deposit are originated from the part melting of subduction of south china ocean and formed in island arc setting. This conclusion prvoides an important theoretical basis for the understanding of the tectonic evolution of NE Jiangxi area.
